Rye, with its quaint cobbled streets, jumped out to us as an obvious choice when we were thinking about where we would like to get married. On the coast of East Sussex, Rye is close to home and close to our hearts.

The town is beautiful, especially at Christmas time. The streets are lined with twinkling lights and the shoreline adds some drama to stormy days.

Rye has plenty of cosy pubs with open fires, art galleries, shops, bakeries and nooks for antiquing to keep you thoroughly entertained by its charm during a trip away.

A foodie heaven, it’s famous for Rye Bay Scallops and nearby Romney Marsh lamb.

If we are fortunate to have cold, crisp sunny days over the weekend of the wedding, Camber Sands is the perfect addition to a get-away by the sea.

Moments away from Rye Town and Harbour, with unspoilt views, it stretches on for almost five miles.
